We Welcome Your Interest

Bishop Jerold Gliege serves the administrative needs of the Evangelical Orthodox Church as its Presiding Bishop. Bp. Jerold is a graduate of Miller Memorial Bible Institute and began ministering as an Evangelical Mennonite Brethren pastor in 1971. He was consecrated to the episcopacy of the EOC in 1976 and has pastored Holy Covenant EOC since then. He and his wife Audrey live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

We invite you to explore who we are as the Evangelical Orthodox Church and how God has manifested His grace in our communion of churches. We are a sincere and intentional body of believers who have been touched by God’s love and mercy. All that we are we gratefully acknowledged as coming from and belonging to the Blessed Trinity.

In our journey since 1979, we have come to a deep appreciation of the catholic/orthodox faith found in the Scriptures, the doctrine, tradition, and history of the early Church. We have committed ourselves to this ancient and historic faith while embracing our evangelical roots. We hold an evangelical fire in the ancient forms.

Our jurisdiction consists of parishes in the United States, Canada, Sweden, Rwanda, and Burundi as well as the Order of Holy Redeemer. Our faithful are served by six bishops. Though we are small in number our faith is alive and authentic. Each week we gather as the very Body of Christ, the Church, to be nourished and fed at the table of our Lord Jesus Christ – the Eucharist. Our parishes are active during the week providing ministry and love to our members and to those around us.

On behalf of the faithful,
Bp. Thomas Andersson

Since Iamstillsearching I know that my soul has NOT found its Orthodox home.
Pleasecontatc me or send me information. The only thing I really know is form Father Peter Gillquists book Journey to Orthodoxy

In the UK there are no evangelical orthodox churches. I am an evangelical baptist, who is disillusioned with baptist churches, especially emergent churches. But there is no way I could go to the Greek Orthodox church, the only orthodox church here in Leeds. It is formal, ritualistic and not preaching the gospel. There are no non-Greeks there, and it is a Greek community and culture, I would be a complete outsider. So, how can I find a spiritual home, a thriving, missional, evangelical, orthodox church?

  4. Tom Ward says:

Joanne, I have also visited the Greek community in Harehills. I found them very friendly and welcoming, but also very Greek. It all seemed quite alien. (Although, I must admit, this was quite some tiem ago). There are other Orhtodox parishes and missions in the North of England which are a little easier to approach as an ‘outsider’. Best wishes in your search.

  5. Rick Natalello says:

    Dear Bishop,
I like many evangelicals have read Peter Gilliquists book and am following my calling back to a more orthodox calling and service. I am attending Regent University (graduate December w/a BA in Religious Studies) and will be attending Seminary in the Spring – MA in Divinity in Practical Theology. My inquiry is in regards to possible internship (within the next 2 years) and God willing, the opportunity, of starting a church parish here in Virginia Beach. Though Regent is predominantly a Charismatic flavored environment, there is much interest in the Classical call to Orthodoxy still in its walls and locally. I feel called to defend many of the Reformed ways and yet God is calling me back even further to the Church Fathers and the first centuries of the churches birth. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you for your time…
    In His Grace,
    Rick Natalello

I was born and raised in the roman rite. I was introduced to the east by a priest who is biritual in both the eastern and western traditions. He also did masses for the charismatic renewal in the roman rite. My love for the eastern rites just grows and grows. I’m total hooked from the music to the prayers! I even have a eastern prayer rope i carry on wrist. I was just wondering are all of you in communion with rome? I would love to find a home where i can stay in communion with the roman patriarch and yet celebrate eastern ligturgy as well as the gift found in the renewal. thanks
